This qualification will provide you with foundational skills and knowledge to start your academic pathway for a career in the IT industry. 

With this course, you will begin with basic computer operation and then establish and develop your skills across a range of common programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will also learn to effectively use electronic communication skills, as well as get an introduction to digital photography and video.

Skills gained include:

  • Communication methods including social media
  • Software applications focusing on the Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic use of multimedia including video editing
  • Operating systems
  • Installing additional hardware such as printers, and

The qualification is designed for those developing the necessary digital and technology skills in preparation for work. These individuals carry out a range of basic procedural and operational tasks that require digital and technology skills. They perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and knowledge in a defined context. The qualification is suitable for someone generally performing under direct supervision.

Throughout this course, students will learn how to:

  • Operate digital media safely
  • Use technology for collaboration and sustainable computing
  • Provide client interaction and workplace communication
  • Protect and manage IT assets

ICT20120  Certificate II in Applied Digital Technologies can be completed in one year. School students can complete the qualification in two years. The units are scheduled as per the enrolment form in each term.

The Centre for IT Excellence (CITE) provides state of the art, industry relevant training in information technology and creative media. We provide pathways from foundation studies to advanced diploma with specialist training in cyber securitynetworking, programming and digital media.

Higher level studies are strongly recommended.
